When I asked my husband what we should write he said "hardworking, living off the land, got goats, cats, a dog and chickens" and that sums it up. But I will add more...we started off homesteading two acres in west central Georgia. Yes I said "two acres"! While we had a smaller plot we still had chores every morning and night and we got food from our animals and made tons of our everyday items. That two acres only lasted a little over a year before we got a itch to have more land to be able to do more.
Now we homestead off of 14 acres and are working on expanding our goat herd, adding meat chickens, hogs and honeybees.
We did not grow up in farming or even self sufficient homes but have grown to love this lifestyle. We are learning as we go and trying harder each year to provide more of our food from our property.
We sell raw goats milk, goat milk soap, fresh eggs and fresh ground whole wheat bread.
